City of St Paul - 32 years
Member of MPSTMA for 12 years.
I started my career for the City of St Paul Parks Department in 1987 at Municipal Stadium. The Saint Paul Saints Baseball Club in 1993.
The name of this stadium changed to Midway Stadium upon the inception of
t was here where I developed a passion to work in this field (no pun intended) many decades ago.
My current role as a crew leader is to ensure all aspects of field and rink maintenance are completed for the cityís
Municipal Athletics Programming Division throughout the year. This includes both artificial turf and natural turf areas
as well as ensuring our broomball rinks are being maintained for our adult winter recreation leagues. Another key
component of my duties is to coordinate the hiring and placement of seasonal staff at various athletic complexes
during the summer months. I rely heavily on hiring motivated staff to maintain these softball, baseball, soccer,
lacrosse, and football fields daily.
The MPSTMA has allowed me to attain valuable relationships with various members of this organization. As advances in our field continue to evolve, I feel itís important for this organization to help convey many of these advances.
Whether these relationships are from the wide array of vendors to the frontline workers in all that we do.
I want to continue to help support bringing relevant and pertinent workshops for all of us to attend.
What issues should MPSTMA focus on for the future of the association?
Such things as artificial turf and GPS guided equipment is now becoming the norm in the workplace. MPSTMA can be an
important voice to advocate "best practices" related to these advances in our industry. In closing, I would like to see MPSTMA
continue to reach out to build higher member numbers from municipalities, school districts, universities, and vendors alike.
