June 9, 2009 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed drastic new home building criteria that threatens the core of our enterprise—turfgrass.

Under the Water Sense label, EPA is proposing landscape criteria that severely limit turfgrass coverage on new home sites and completely ban turfgrass on steep slopes.

We need your help in stopping this now. The public comment period ends July 7 and there are a number of action steps we need to take before then.

To that end, the National Turfgrass Federation (www.turfresearch.org) and its partner organizations, including the Plant Care Network have scheduled a conference call for June 16th at 2pm (ET) to discuss the issue and action steps moving forward. Your involvement in this effort is critical and we appreciate your participation on June 16th.
